World Champion Jarrod Shoemaker Joins Team Psycho Elite Development
Program
Team
Psycho is pleased to announce that Jarrod Shoemaker will join its Elite Development
Program (EDP) for 2006. Jarrod is the reigning U23 World Champion with several
wins to his credit in 2005. Having only started racing triathlon in 2004, Jarrod
has already made quite a splash in the ITU arena, with a current world points
ranking of 60th. If he can hold that ranking, he will be well within the mark
to earn a spot at the 2008 Olympic Trials. Jarrod's biography and a full list
of race results are available on his website, www.jarrodshoemaker.com.
The EDP was founded in 2002 as a way for Team Psycho to give back to the triathlon
community in a manner consistent with the mission and founding principals of
the Team, and its goal of promoting excellence in triathlon. EDP athletes receive
financial assistance and mentoring. In 2004, Christoph O'Donnell, one of EDP's
first athletes, qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials, where he finished eighth
despite battling a respiratory infection. With Jarrod now on board, Team Psycho
members are optimistic that an EDP athlete will reach Beijing in 2008.
Details of the EDP, including application procedures, are available at here.
