Pre-Marathon Marathon Relay

- What: A handicapped relay run over a total of 26.2 miles (give or take)
- Where: Harpoon Brewery, 306 Northern Avenue (see directions below)
- Timing:
- - 1:00 brewery tour (learn all about the beer you will soon consume in large quantities)
- - 1:45 pre-start instructions
- - 2:00 - 6:00 run and drink beer (in any order)
- - 6:00 dinner at nearby, kid-friendly Jimbo's
- Who: Members of Team Psycho and SOs
- Cost: $5 includes basic munchies and beer (thanks to Harpoon); dinner is on you.

Participants will be assigned to teams of 3-5 people who will run a marathon as a relay. Teams will be handicapped so they are expected to finish at the same time. Handicaps will be based on your own estimates. Sandbaggers will be severely penalized.

To participate, register (preferred) or email me as soon as possible, but no later than April 5 with the following information:
- How many for the brewery tour (Harpoon needs a count)
- Number of total miles you would ideally race, not all in one leg (3-5, 5-8, or 8-12)
- Predicted times for 1 mile, 5K, 10K (be aggressive since sandbagging will be penalized)
- How many kids/adults for dinner?

What to do with the family during the race? Harpoon is about 1.5 miles from the Children's Museum. Non-racers can spend the afternoon there and then join for the end of the race and/or dinner. Jimbo's is kid-friendly.

Directions:
Coming from the North and traveling South on 93. Take 93 South until you reach downtown Boston. Continue on the expressway south to Exit 22/ (South Station). Upon exiting, stay in the left lane for a left turn after the lights. Follow Summer Street for a couple miles, (approximately 4 sets of traffic lights) to D Street. Take a left onto D Street and follow to the traffic light at the end (The Fish Pier will be straight ahead). Take a right onto Northern Ave. and follow past Jimmy’s Harborside Restaurant (Jimbo’s) and the FleetBoston Pavilion on your left. Harpoon brewery is the first building on the left in the Marine Industrial Park. Look for the grain silos out front.

Coming from the South and traveling North on 93. Take 93 North until you reach downtown Boston (at the end of the tunnel) take Exit 22. Bear right on the Exit Ramp. There will be a stoplight at the end of the Exit Ramp. Go across the intersection onto Seaport Blvd (James Hook Fish Co. will be on your left). Follow Seaport Blvd until it becomes New Northern Ave. Stay on New Northern until it becomes Northern Ave past the World Trade Center Boston, Boston Fish Pier and Jimmy’s Restaurant and FleetBoston Pavilion (all on the left). Harpoon brewery is the first building on the left in the Marine Industrial Park. Look for the grain silos out front.

Coming from the East on I-90. Stay on the pike into the Ted Williams Tunnel and take the first exit in the Tunnel (South Boston). Stay to the left on the ramp and go straight through your first light and take a right onto Northern Ave at the second light. and follow past Jimmy’s Harborside Restaurant (Jimbo’s) and the FleetBoston Pavilion on your left. Harpoon brewery is the first building on the left in the Marine Industrial Park. Look for the grain silos out front.
